Part 3 of DIN EN 50518 requires an audit by an institution which is accredited according to EN 17065 for the proof of fulfilling the requirements of the DIN EN 50518-series. Due to this, a certification procedure for proofing the fulfillment and keeping the standard requirements according to the standard series DIN EN 50518 was elaborated by a task force (AG Alarm) with participants of experts of service providers, authorities, insurers, associations and VdS Schadenverhütung.

This certification procedure in the present guidelines for the certification of monitoring and alarm receiving centres according to DIN EN 50518 (VdS 3137) aims to offer the certification according to the European standard EN 17065 by VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH.

The VdS certification body has been accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) for the certification of monitoring and alarm receiving centres according to EIN EN 50518. The DAkkS is the national accreditation body in the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin. It assesses, confirms and monitors as independent body the expert competence of laboratories, certification and inspection bodies.

It is only by the accreditation of the certification procedure that the standard requirements of DIN EN 50518-3 are fulfilled and such giving proof of standard conformity regarding all three parts of DIN EN 50518.
